6 Feet of Hope - Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day (DC)

Please join us in the fight against breast cancer.

On the weekend of May 3-5, 2002, Frances, Renee, and Quinetta will be walking from Baltimore MD to the Washington DC (60 miles!) in the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day to raise money for breast cancer research and early detection programs. Among the three of us, our goal is to raise $5700 for breast cancer research. We need your support - please send a donation for the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. Where does the money go?
Money raised thru the Avon 3-Day are distributed as grants to various breast cancer health and research programs around the country.

Examples of how have the funds been used in the DC-area:
Avon's Pink Ribbon Delivery Service - Served more than 20,000 nutritious meals to women with breast cancer and their families during its first year. The program serves medically necessitated, specially prepared meal to an average of 27 families affected by breast cancer each month. For more information: www.foodandfriends.org

Rise-Sister-Rise - A support program for African-American women with breast cancer. The support group helps patients develop coping skills and understand health and nutrition needs, lends psycho-social help and provides physical therapy and rehabilitation. Crusade funds helped to develop a formal curriculum and launch local programs; 15 new programs will be established this year.
